10 Things to do in Jindabyne this Summer
From your local accommodation crew – here to help you get the most out of your stay.
Welcome to Jindabyne! Whether it’s your first visit or your tenth, we reckon there’s no better place to soak up an Aussie summer. We live and work here, so we’ve rounded up some of our favourite things to do in and around Jindy. Some are well-known, others are a little more tucked away. Let’s make your stay one to remember.
1. Explore Our Backyard by Mountain Bike
We’re spoilt for trails out here. Tyrolean Village, Mill Creek, and Hatchery Bay are packed with fun, flowy tracks, with stunning lake views thrown in. You don’t need to be an expert either, just grab a bike and have a crack.

2. Go For a Hike (or a Big Walk)
You’re on the doorstep of Kosciuszko National Park, and whether you’re up for the summit trail or a cruisy lake loop, the views will blow your socks off. We’re always happy to recommend tracks based on your energy level.

3. Waterskiing and Wakeboarding on Lake Jindabyne
Nothing says summer like a splash on the lake. Waterskiing, wakeboarding, tubing, the works. Local operators can hook you up with gear and a boat. Bonus: epic sunsets on the water.
4. Ride Through the High Country on Horseback
Saddle up for a truly scenic ride with Thredbo Valley Horse Riding. They offer everything from easy 1‑hour trail rides for families to more adventurous 2‑hour and half‑day options through the heart of the Snowy Mountains. Whether you’re a first‑time rider or have plenty of experience, the guides match you with the right horse and trail. Book here for more details and pick your pace.

5. Cast a Line – Fishing in the creeks or lake
The trout out here are something else. Whether you’re a fly fisher or just throwing in a line from the shore, you’ll find a quiet spot to unwind. The lake’s pretty much always glassy in the morning. Magic.
6. Visit the Yarrangobilly Caves
This one’s a bit of a drive, but worth every minute. Ancient limestone caves, thermal springs, and picnic spots galore. Bring swimmers, that natural hot pool feels unreal after a bit of exploring.

7. Support the Local Breweries and Wineries
Jindy Brewing, Dalgety Brewing, Shut the Gate Wines, just to name a few. Each one’s got its own charm, and a great place to pull up a chair and taste something local. We’re always happy to point you to our favourites.
8. Kayaking & Rafting Adventures
Hire a kayak and paddle the lake on your own time, or if you’re after something more adrenaline-filled, whitewater rafting on the Snowy River is the go. You’ll come back with a story or two.

9. Take a Scenic Helicopter Flight
This one’s a splurge, but the views over the Snowy Mountains and Lake Jindabyne are unforgettable. If you’re here for a special occasion, we’d say go for it. A few of our guests have done it and raved about it.
10. Road Cycle Like a Local
If road cycling’s more your thing, there are some beautiful loops around here. From the lake circuit to longer stretches out to Dalgety or Berridale, smooth roads, big skies, and barely any traffic.
